CURRENT OPPORTUNITIES WITH ROAVR

Field Ecologists - (FEs)

Within ROAVR we have four tiers of ecologists working to support our customers.

  • FE-X - Field Ecologists External
  • FE-I - Field Ecologists Internal

By initially using sub-contract field ecologists we can see if we are a good culture fit, and you can gain valuable experience in the field.  Our field ecologists are scattered across the UK and during the survey season work exceedingly hard to collect high quality field data supported by our Inverness Head Office.

We are currently recruiting for seasonal FE-Xs for the 2025 survey season and also a lead Ecologist to be based in the southeast or Midlands.

We offer competitive rates of pay.

Lead in to a FE-I role for the right individual

Final Steps - So You Can Work For ROAVR

Once we have your details and have carried out our initial checks you will be added to our database system for job allocations for external field ecologists.

Depending on your experience you will be required to attend a half-day training session on ROAVR process and procedures.

You will finally be sent a sub-contractor agreement and NDA to sign then you are ready to go!

We will hire people with little or no experience in FE-I roles as we realise that's how you get started - BUT in return we expect your initial email to us to be clean, clear and concise with no spelling or grammar errors.

We are looking for people that are passionate, driven, take Extreme Ownership and ask good questions.  If that sounds like you then drop us an email to loren@roavr-group.co.uk

If you are interested in our senior/lead ecologist role then please email loren@roavr-group.co.uk with LEAD ECOLOGIST in the subject line.

Seasonal Survey Assistants - Bats (SSA-B)

Each year, right across the U.K ROAVR undertakes 100's of dusk and dawn bat activity surveys to gain evidence on the presence or absence of bats in buildings undergoing demolition or material change.

In order to carry out these surveys we have a requirement for seasonal and sub-contract staff.  These roles range from seasonal survey assistants (SSAs), to seasonal survey leads (SSLs).

The roles involve selecting as few or as many surveys suit your own personal circumstances.  If you are not familiar with the work then full training can be given.  The work typically involves up to 1 hr of travel to the site and then 2.5 hrs on-site monitoring bat activity in line with the Bat Conservation Trusts guidance.

Information is recorded on survey sheets and then photographed and uploaded to our 'smart portal'.

During the 2024 season which typically ran from May to September, we employed up to ten SSAs across the U.K but the bulk of the survey work tends to be in the southeast.

Pay.

We recognise that in this role you may be early on in your career or a very experienced seasonal batworker.  As such we have several pay grades depending on your experience and role on the survey.

SSA - £72.00 per survey

SSL - £115.00 per survey

Assume 2.5 hrs on-site and 1.5-2 hrs travelling.

Mileage is paid at 0.45p per mile.

These fees are fixed and non-negotiable, if you feel you have the experience to manage 2-3 surveys at a single site then let us know and we can assign you the site project manager (SPM) role for that project.  Weekend working is possible.

Our fees to our customers are FIXED this means that these rates are also fixed.

Training & Opportunities.

Wherever possible, we like to retain top quality SSAs and SSLs across multiple seasons and there are also opportunities to progress to field ecologists and ecologist roles once you graduate in a related field.

If you need upskilling we can arrange that in April each year before the survey season commences.  Shadowing opportunities are available with more experienced consultants as we recognise how hard it can be to obtain a start in this area.
